Coast Guard
West Entrance (Whitehorse-Hamilton Square Road)
Lightship Anchor
The Coast Guard memorial was dedicated August 5, 2017. The mushroom anchor was acquired from a Coast Guard Lightship. A Lightship is basically a ship that acts as a lighthouse and is used in waters that are too deep or otherwise unsuitable for lighthouse construction (see picture). The two granite benches show “U.S. Coast Guard” on one side and “Semper Paratus” – Always Ready – on the other.
